Why I Love Airport Transport Services
Before the popularisation of airport transport services in the early 2000s, I have been a frequent user of this service. Not only is it reliable, it takes out the hassle of transportation from the airport no matter the time of day. While it is considerably more expensive, the benefit it brings me far outweighs the costs involved. In addition, I do not have to pay fees such as waiting time spent on Jams in the country, toll gates or other inconveniences.
About me
I’m a frequent traveler based in Canada and have been traveling abroad for leisure and business for the last 20 years of my career. I travel about 80 times a year and travel on both long and short haul flights. Through this post, I will explain why I use and swear by airport transfers or limousine transport and the best experience I had using this medium.
Because all my expense is usually paid by the company, I usually opt for the most comfortable option. Which is usually through a professional airport transfer. Airport transfers are usually my go-to mode of transport because I don’t have to wait upon arrival and my transfer to my next destination is usually seamless without a worry about paying the fare. All fares are done prior to the trip and there are usually no surcharges no matter which route or the number of toll gates there are. However, that said, it is important to note that not all airport transfers are equal. I’ll list bad experiences I had and also the great experience I had.
Singapore
Singapore is a buzzing metropolitan city with a population of over 6 million people crammed into an area smaller than Kuala Lumpur. Their transport system is surprisingly extremely efficient and affordable. However, due to the population size, peak periods can be quite torturous to transport in. Their cars have a Certificate of Entitlement system where only a certain amount of cars are allowed to be registered to prevent overcrowding on the roads. The COE last for only 10 years and just the certificate can cost tens of thousands of dollars. As such, the majority of cars are less than 10 years old. The airport transfer vehicles I take most of the time are modern vehicles that are less than 5 years old. The service is also great because most drivers are multi-lingual. Because of the size of the country, the transfer fees are usually flat rate and includes costs such as their ERP and parking no matter where you wish to alight.
Bangkok
Bangkok is another metropolitan city with a population of over 8 million people. However, the construct of Bangkok is very different from Singapore where there is a city area and a rural area. Because most of the concentration of population is in the city, the traffic condition in Bangkok is horrendous. If you are taking an airport transport in Bangkok, It is important to note that there are usually surcharges depending on where your alighting point is, In addition, you may have to pay extra if you use their highway. If you are going by such a medium, it is also important to note that you should cater for at least 1-2 hours for your journey because of the frequent jams that you will experience. The cars are usually more basic and they hardly have the option of luxury options such as Mercedes or BMW vehicles. Instead, you can only choose basic cars such as Toyota corollas or Toyota minibusses.
Conclusion
Every country has a different type of airport transfer service and it is important to not assume that all are equal. In addition, it is useful to always read the fine print included in most websites for the various terms and conditions applicable for the transfer.
